Complaints#
Today I thought about creating a bot in WeChat Work to handle some tasks, but when I logged in, I found that login verification was required.
However, I had forgotten to change the phone number linked to WeChat Work after changing my phone number, which caused the SMS verification code to be sent to my old phone number. Looking at another verification method: using the already logged-in phone to scan the code for verification. I felt a chill; there were only two verification methods, and neither worked for me. Was this a dead end?
Then I looked at the official WeChat solution: let the enterprise administrator contact WeChat Work's online customer service for consultation. Coincidentally, I am the administrator of the enterprise, so this method also didn't work.
With no other options, I could only see if any netizens had strange methods to bypass WeChat Work's login verification. After trying for an entire afternoon, none of the methods (for me) worked. Finally, I saw that the official WeChat Work website had a button to contact customer service through the WeChat public account. Holding onto the last glimmer of hope, I scanned the code to follow the public account and reported the situation to the so-called customer service, but unsurprisingly, all I received were responses from a robot customer service. It started by assuming I had found a human customer service representative, followed by a long segment of completely unhelpful nonsense.
However, since there was a help center, I clicked in to take a look. At the bottom, there was an appeal ticket, so I clicked on it:
At this point, I had lost the motivation to figure out how to log into WeChat Work. I pondered for a long time and couldn't understand why such a large enterprise wouldn't even provide access to a real customer service representative... I couldn't fathom why a software could impose various restrictions under the guise of safety, combined with the absence of a real customer service representative, creating a perfect deadlock.
Is it just because it is a monopoly?
2022.6.4 Update: A workaround I found#
I found a method to change the linked phone number. First, open the Enterprise Email login page, log in by scanning the code, and then select the account for which you need to change the phone number; here, I chose the first one to log in.
Once inside, select 'Settings' - 'Account' - 'Phone Number' - 'Change' in the upper left corner, click it, and then use WeChat to scan the code to change the phone number.
